Us at Cumberland Falls.We picked up the trailer on Friday the 24th and packed our things. We left late Saturday morning and stopped in Sweetwater, Tennessee. We camped at a KOA site which had full hook-ups. This means water, electric and sewer are all at the site. It was also the most expensive nights stay at $50.00. (ouch!) We found out later how very nice that feature is. We stayed there one night and left the next morning for Big Bone Lick State Park in Kentucky. This park was the closest to the Creation Museum.
We arrived at the park late Sunday, and went to the Creation Museum the next day. The museum was really nice. One of our favorites was the Ark exhibit. It had a life size portion of the ark. It really gave you a feel for the sheer size of it. The gardens were also beautiful. We bought a two day pass so we didn't have to rush.
We left on Wednesday for Cumberland Falls State Park, Kentucky. As we exited to get to our destination the camper blew a tire. Praise God this did not happen on the highway. We were able to pull off quickly. The camper did not have a spare so we had to call for service. All they had was a used tire, but it got us home. Cumberland Falls was nice, and the pool at the camp grounds
was great. We left for home late Friday morning and made it home that evening.
Here is a list of things we learned about camping with a trailer.
It's hard to gas up when you have a 30 foot trailer attached to your bumper.
The difference between gray water and black water.
If you use too much water while you camping it will back up and not smell very good.
Moving the trailer to the dump station to dump the back up takes a long time.
How to take a Navy shower.
Full hook-ups are very nice.
You can't go much faster than 55 mph when you are towing a trailer.
The atmosphere is great. The kids can ride their bikes and make friends quickly.
A 30 ft trailer gets small when you have six children.
The van gets 10 mpg when you are towing.
It cost about $187.00 a day with additional gas and the blown tire included.
We all really liked it and can't wait to do it again!

$187 is not bad for a vacation for 8! That's awesome! It looks like y'all had so much fun! Are Navy showers the same length as Air Force showers (2 min)?
